Toronto: Day 2

Day two found us at Fort York in the middle of downtown Toronto. It was a fort built by the British to defend against the Americans during the war of 1812. In fact, they call that war the "American War." It's always fascinating to see how history depends on perspective! We left serious history behind and headed to Casa Loma, a formerly rich man's old school mansion on a hill high above Toronto. It was awesome--100 rooms, secret passages, underground tunnel, etc. etc.--until he went bankrupt after building it in the 1930s. It's currently the headquarters of the Kiwanis club.

More CN tower! We almost went up the top but then read that it has
glass floors. After a traumatic experience with the St. Louis Arch,
I was very happy to pass on that.

The epitome of Canada--a Muslim family touring an old British fort
in the current province of Ontario. The kids took an hour to
warm up to the guide in his period clothes. It was awesome.
