Deception Pass & Anacortes, WA

After only a few hours in the car (2.5 to be exact, right Dad?), we had driven from the fish ladder in Seattle to Anacortes, WA. Anacortes is not much to right home about as it's mainly a ferry terminal, but it had some tasty food (and beer) and some great street mural. The real star of the show, however, was on the drive from Anacortes over to Whidbey Island...Deception Pass!

Now if I'm being honest, based on the name, I was picturing shipwrecks and pirate tales of stolen booty. Thankfully Courtney did some research and alerted us to the fact that it was only given the name "Deception" after a guy sailed through the pass quite a few years ago thinking that Whidbey Island was a peninsula only to later find out it in fact was an island. GREAT STORY! But really, a cool place!
