From Canada to the US and Three Great Lakes!

Saturday was ferry day! We woke up early to catch the ferry from Tobermory on Bruce Peninsula north to Baymouth, passing through Lake Huron along the way. As my dad repeated three times, "It really shows you the vastness of the Great Lakes." And it did! Although I slept through the second half of the vastness.

Bruce is also my Dad's name so this was fun.

Once on the other side of Lake Huron, we drove through some
incredible scenery as we followed Lake Huron up to mainland Canada.

I tried to capture it with my camera but it was fairly impossible.

Before long, it was time to head back to the US
and see our last great lake!

We stayed the night in the American Sault Ste. Marie (there's a Canadian version as well) and got up bright and early to see Lake Superior. We had seen the bay crossing over from Canada to the US but it felt a bit like cheating, so we decided to head up to a lighthouse on the lake. This route and our eventual route down to Wisconsin took us through the upper peninsula of Michigan (people from Michigan are quick to clarify when they are from the lower peninsula and I see why now--upper is quite boring and remote!)

After Lake Huron and Lake Superior the past two days, we finally met up with Lake Michigan (my home lake!) when we entered Wisconsin. We spent the rest of the day driving through Wisconsin (lots of farms!) and are somewhere between Milwaukee and Chicago. Chicago in the AM!!! Almost...there...
