I've been lazy about blogging lately due to spotty AC, nursing a cold (which is problematic in Turkey where according to LP, blowing your nose in public is a faux pas), taking too many pictures, and tiring myself out during the day. But today is a relaxed day in Cappadocia so I figure it's time to catch up! We left Urfa last Friday for a town called Malatya in a more mountainous region of Turkey. We were excited about the nice bus company we booked our 7 hour ride with. The ride, however, was not so magical when the AC crapped out and then the bus started overheating even more when we got to the mountains. This entailed stopping every 20 minutes to cool of the engine. The weather in the mountains was thankfully cooler but not so on the bus. I couldn't stop sweating the entire ride but I also felt bad for all the Turks on the bus with us who were fasting for Ramadan and water-less during the ride. We made it to Malatya in one piece, but the weather wasn't as cool as we had hoped (each city tends to have a heat wave right when we visit then cools off when we leave). The town itself wasn't terribly exciting but it had a very laid back feel to it and was the best location for a day tour to our next adventure...
